Day 2 - A tale of two hills

After yesterday's rain, we started today in some more traditional scottish weather - fog

Definitely not no jacket required
The first leg saw Claire and I tag onto Team Cisco and Google Man who took us up the first serious hill of the ride and onto about 20 miles.

A long way up from the loch below
After letting the tech boys go, we took the next 10 easy then foolishly took the back of a train led by a guy with shaved legs, always a bad idea.  Anyway, we managed to stay with them for 15 miles and with team cars and motorcycle marshalls going past, it was nearly like an actal proper cycle race.

Next up was some fantastic scenery with Loch Ness providing some glorious views.

What's that over the hill, it's a monster...
After yesterday's pain due to lack of carbs, Claire made sure she kept on drinking the Powerade despite the scarily blue colour, still, it matched her jersey.

Then after 60 miles, I started to have a mare but luckily in stepped today's star, Claire's new best friend Sibohan (an escapee from Team Kraft) who along with Claire shared the work until 15 to go. Then learning from Claire, I took a couple of Go Gels and turned into Migel Indurain (I wish) and took us home from 15 miles out.

Todays stats...

99 miles, 2,500 metres of climbing at another way to fast average of 16 mph.

Villan of the day was Rapha Man who we overtook with 500 metres to go and completely blanked Claire when she went to speak to him at the finish line. So, we didn't invite him to the finishing photo.

Sibohan was taller than Ben Nevis
Tomorrow we leave the wilds behind and cycle the 114 miles from Fort William to Glasgow.
